The end of a wonderful week!

How lovely to read Mrs MacMorrin's post below to find out what you were doing earlier in the week!
I've really enjoyed my first week with Class 1, and we can't wait to learn more about Brazil and the Amazon rainforest.

This week we have been sorting out our fiction and non-fiction books.  We now know that non-fiction books give us information and can tell us facts about things we want to learn.

Each Friday afternoon will be a Child-Initiated Learning session.  Every Wednesday the children will think about something they want to learn or experience, and they will vote for their favourite idea, which will take place on Friday afternoons.

This week the children had some great ideas:  a building and construction afternoon, an animal afternoon, and 'Build a boat and go on a trip'.

The children voted to build a boat and go on a trip, so this afternoon we put our boat-building skills to the test, (helped by Evan, who knows all about boat-building because his daddy is making one out of Lego!) and set sail on a journey down the Amazon River!

Enjoy the photographs below.  Looking forward to seeing you all again next week.

Off on our trip down the Amazon River!

We could hear the sounds of the animals and birds who live nearby
