The Bad -Tempered Ladybird and telling the time!

Using the story of The Bad-Tempered Ladybird as a stimulus, the children enjoyed making clocks this week in school and beginning to learn to tell the time. They took their clocks home to practice with their mums and dads.

Also this week, the children ordered pictures from The Frog Prince and thought about our school value of honesty and the importance of keeping promises!

They have also been enjoying gymnastics with different coaches and especially enjoyed using the apparatus this week.

Child Initiated Den Building

This week the children voted to build dens!  With the help of blankets from home, the children used tables and chairs, sand trays and masking tape to create some wonderful dens.

The afternoon took an even more exciting turn when the rain came down!  The children were torn between building their dens, watching the storm and peering at Mr Wainwright and Mrs Thompson in the outdoor classroom, trying to control the downpour!

With the lights off and dens built, it was the perfect opportunity to hide away and listen to the rain falling.  There was problem solving, story telling, sharing, compromising and lots of fun.  Take a look at the photos!

Castles and Fairy Stories!

What a lovely first week back at school we have had!

A trip to Hedingham Castle and a little glimpse for the children into what life was like a long time ago! Most of the boys liked meeting the archer best - they were very impressed when he fired his arrows for real! We also met a knight of Saint John's, did some medieval dancing and played a jousting game ...... the time went too quickly!! Many thanks to all the parents who came and helped make the day such a success! Enjoy some photos below:
