This week in in class 1

This week in Class 1 we have...
  • Baked Bread after reading the Little Red Hen Story.  We made it to show in the Harvest Assembly.

In maths we learnt to use weighing scales.

Our Gold Cup Class Winners this week are:

Wonderful Writing - Nina for her understanding of connectives.
Thinking Things Through - Joe for thinking of different shapes he could make with 10 cubes.
Handwriting Homework - Charlotte for excellent, neat handwriting and everything sitting between the correct lines.
Reading and Phonics - William for knowing so many sounds and words when asked this week.

Well done to you all for such a fabulous week of learning.

Also to let you know on Friday afternoon we will be watching 'The Hare and the Tortoise' play in school.  I just thought I would let you know as I understand from the phonics evening some children are not talking about their day.  Hope this gives you the opportunity to ask your child about their day.

Hey Class 1,

What a week we have had!! It was lovely to go to the castle on Tuesday, thank you to those parents that came and helped. Here are some photos of the children at the castle.
We got to dress as Romans.

There were really big shields

Also this week we have been learning to estimate in maths and writing about our trip in Literacy.  The children have investigated how to make a round house by using clay and straws.  Next week they will be investigating what material will be best to make the wall of their house.

To let you know in class we are now celebrating Wonderful Writing (Literacy), Thinking Things Through (Maths), Reading & Phonics and then the children's Handwriting.  We will be sending different handwriting sheets home for you and your child to do together, this will help them with writing in class.  Some weeks you may receive different maths problems to complete together too.

Bug Club Homework

I have allocated some lovely reading books for you on Bug Club.  Take a look and enjoy them. There are activities at the end of some too.  Just to let you know Bug Club does not work on iPad as it needs flash, laptop or PC are fine.
