Week 3 - This week we are looking at caterpillars and butterflies. We will be reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and putting action to the story to help us remember the whole book. We have caterpillars in class and the children have been watching them grow, they are now quite big and are not far off forming their chrysalis.
In maths we are concentrating on addition this week by using our number bonds to 10 and then to 20. The children will be doing things through practical challenges.
We have been talking about how we can help at home, the school and the village and the children decided picking up litter was a good way to start to help the environment.
We have talked about how to stay healthy, why it is important and then the sorts of foods that are healthy and unhealthy. The children made their own healthy snack. Homework
Year 1 - This week will be a phonics sheet, a maths task and reading your own book.
Reception - I will set a new home learning task (remember you can keep your books for two weeks to complete the Home Learning task), you will also have phonics.
We have been impressed with the home learning from last week and we look forward to sharing these with you soon.
Homework will be set later this week.

Summer Term - Welcome back.
This term Class 1 will be using the film A Bug's Life for their topic. We will be learning about mini-beasts and plants.
Week 1 - Last week we started the topic with a flower hunt around school, the children had to look for certain flowers and plants that were on their sheet. We also learnt about the life cycle of a bean. We have planted beans in jars and made cress heads to watch what happens as they grow.
Week 2 - This week we are looking at frogs and their life cycle. Miss Rayner has brought in some frogspawn for our mini pond and today the children helped to transfer the frogspawn from a jar to the pond. They can now watch what happens as frogs grow.
Homework
Year 1 - have phonics, Active Learn maths and Bug Club reading.
Reception - Have phonics and our new creative 'home learning'. As the letter said it can be completed over two weeks in preparation for Year 1. The task is written on the page and can be completed in any creative way you wish over the double page. This can be photos, folded pages, drawings, writing etc. We look forward to seeing your homework on Monday 27th April.
The first task was 'What living things are in my garden?'
