Mrs MacMorrin and I would like to wish Miss Stafford and her family good luck as she gets ready to start her maternity leave!
We are both looking forward to seeing you all at school in January, and we have lots of exciting things planned for you.
We will be using Disney's story of 'Up' to help us become explorers, and we will be visiting two very different parts of the Americas. Mrs MacMorrin will be taking you right up north to Canada, and I will be discovering the wonderful rainforests of Brazil. So much to see and so much to do, we can't wait to get started!
I wonder if you can find out the names of any animals that live in Canada or Brazil? Perhaps you could write a list to bring back to school!
Have a wonderful Christmas holiday - see you in the New Year!

Thanksgiving and Hanukkah
Thanksgiving
The children all made sweet potato cakes to celebrate Thanksgiving.
They learnt the story of Thanksgiving and from that mapped out the journey of the Mayflower and then discussed the food the people made. The children then used clay to make their own turkey.
They made Native American head dresses.
Hanukkah
The children learnt about the Menorah candle and that children play games with dreidel.
The children wrote about Hanukkah and decided on their own sentence focusing on sounds in words and letter formation.
The children learnt about the days f the week and how to order them. We learnt this through a song to start with and then order the days. Children did this very well and needed very little adult support.
The children learnt that at Hanukkah they celebrate by giving sweet gifts. The children all gave each other a sweet gift and then ate it. The children used this time to concentrate on their table manner and how we should act in a restaurant.
