What a Week!!

Wow Class 1 what a week we have had!!

Just want to say well done to you all for your participation and achievements at sports day.  It was such a lovely day (2 days) and it was great to see so many parents. I hope you all had fun?!

We have investigated how things float and sink by making boats and talking about why it did or did not float. There were some lovely reasons for why this happens, so well done.  Plus you all played football with Mr Wainwright for the afternoon on Thursday and I hear that went very well.

Next week we will be looking at the Amazon Rainforest.  If you have any fancy dress that may look like explorers, any children's binoculars, magnifying glasses (plastic only) or stuffed amazon animals then please feel free to bring them in.

Hope you have had a lovely weekend and are ready for a fun filled week.

World Cup Fever!!!

Hello everyone, class one would just like to take the opportunity to tell you about their week at school.

In class one this week we have learnt how to say hello in many different languages to do with  the World Cup.

Croatia - dobaarh dun
Japan - Kon ni chi wa
Greece - Yassou
Russian - Privet
Brazil - Hola
Germany - Guten Tag (Good Day)
France - Bonjour

We have been learning about football and that we needed to watch the football at home so we know if our team is winning for our class sweep stake (By Maddy)

If Ecuador won they would win the trophy and they would be pleased.  We drew our own trophies for the winning team (By Murray)

We made our own characters up (By Henry)

We wrote our own stories about our characters.  We had to find a magical thing, end up in a rain forest and finish playing a football game of England vs Brazil (By Nina)

For homework at the start of the topic I enjoyed finding out about my chosen country and making a poster
(By Maya)
.

If a country does not win the football they will be sad - (By Daniel)

We decorated flags from different countries using all sorts of materials (By Elise)

As you may know from the children we have been in planting lots of seeds in the garden.  The children take on the responsibility for looking after them daily.  As you can see from the pictures this is such a highlight.

I wonder if over the weekend any of you can find out what language other countries in the World Cup speak.  Can you write a post about a country and how they say hello.

Have a good weekend and see you Monday.

It's Nearly Time!!

This week we have started our new topic about the World Cup.  The children have looked at rainforests and the different animals that live there.
Thank you to everyone in class that has finished their homework.  I have learnt a lot about the different countries in the World Cup.

The football starts properly on the 12th June.  After this date we will be writing about matches, things that happened during the match, the goals scored and if any red or yellow cards were shown.  If you and an adult are able to watch part of a match then this will help for the weeks ahead.

Football World Cup 2014

Our new topic for the summer term is the Football World Cup. Over the next few weeks the children  will learn about different countries that are playing in the world cup, where they are on a map and the different cultures countries have.  If you have any pictures or souvenirs from any of the participating countries we would love to see them.
