What a great term

Homework for the holiday

All children have been set the task of learning their High Frequency Words and to create a poster about their chosen country of England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales.  Please remember there are also Bug Club Books for your child online to keep them busy.

Next half term we will be learning about mini-beasts through Films and stories.  I would like to ask that if you have any natural materials, gardening sticks, bamboo, wood, netting, egg boxes, shoe boxes and any other materials that will help us build bug houses could you please send in at the start of term.

Enjoy Easter

Another Amazing hard working week.

Maths

Reception - The children have all been making maps of the school grounds this week to help them find the pirate's treasure.  On Friday they used these maps to hunt around the school with Miss Petts.
Year 1 - The children have been concentrating on calculations to 20, looking at how many tens and units are in a number and then writing down some calculations.

Literacy
Reception - On Wednesday in our guided reading lesson the children used their reading skills to follow instructions to make their Mother's Day gifts.  This was very exciting as it involved maths too. The children had to weigh the sugar, measure out the strawberry extract and mix it together.

We hope you enjoy your gift as much

as they enjoyed making it!!

Year 1 - the past few weeks the children have been learning about Captain Cook.  They started writing about his early life about working in a shop, going out to sea and then joining the Navy.  They then moved on to write about his adventures at sea and learnt about the mapping of the coast lines and how he enjoyed doing this.  The children have really learnt a lot and can tell you some interesting facts.

Creative/Art/DT
Reception - This week they have been concentrating on their Mother's Day cards and making them look fabulous.  I will not go into detail in case you read this before you are given the card (Even Miss Stafford made one for her mum).
Year 1- The children are in the process of creating their own ship, so this week they painted their ship ready to assemble next week.  They are very excited to do this and are always asking when we are going to do more to their ship.

Red Nose Day
What an exciting day, it was great to see all the children go to such extent to wear red and decorate their faces. So thank you parents, especially if you were up at 6am due to excitement and decorating their faces.

Please do not forget it is our school trip on Tuesday, thank you to Mrs Taylor, Mrs Easton, Mr Ellison, Mrs Le Chalmers and Mrs Beards for helping out on the trip this time.  It will be a fun filled and exciting day.

Apologies for the late homework last week.  Homework will be as per usual from this week.

See you all Monday

What a lovely week...Also a sorry message

To all Parents,

Sorry that your children did not get back their homework book on Friday.  This will be given to them tomorrow.

If you get time could you please sit with your child and draw a map of their journey to school.  This can be brought in any day this week.

Sorry again.

Otherwise it has been a packed week, 'Pirates took Mr. Wainwright'.  The children had to write posters to ask people in school that if they saw pirates could they come to the class and let us know. The writing the children produced was lovely, it really caught their imaginations.  The children have been fishing this week to work on their addition skills, this was a very inventive lesson and the children all tried hard on their addition skills.

For 'Thinking Things Through' maths this week the children had to work in pairs to create a life size robot.  Their remit was that the robot had to have arms, legs, a body and a head.  This was a fantastic lesson and to see how the children worked with their partner was wonderful.  They really listened to each other and we ended up with robots that had ovens for tummys and ones that used what they ate for energy, they even split up the bad food and the good into different parts.
