Week Three - Percy the Park Keeper

Well what a Week.  We have done lots of work and participated in Ising Pop.  We have started to learn about Percy the Park Keeper and his friends.  The children this week have written lists of what Percy may need to help him fix things 'After the Storm'  and then they wrote invitations to the 'Hedgehogs Balloon' party.

Maths
This week was all based around patterns and how to make a repeating pattern.  The children used many different toys to help them learn and then started to use the vegetables from Percy's garden to make their own pattern with paint.

We visited the church this week to help us learn about Christians as well as what we find in a church. The children really enjoyed this outing and asked many questions about things they saw there and on the walk to the church.

The children have all participated in the Ising pop and it has been lovely to watch them sing and dance with smiles on their faces.  We hope you enjoy the performance!

The children also made hedgehog cakes this week.

Week Two - Settling in!

We've had another great week in Class 1. It has been lovely to begin to get to know your children more and find out some more of their interests.

We've done lots of fun counting activities this week with Dan Dragon (our puppet) who likes to cause mischief with our number lines and hide numbers when we're not looking! lucky that Class 1 is very good at counting and can spot the numbers he hides!

We've also read a story: 'We're Going on a Leaf Hunt', gone on our own leaf hunt and printed some beautiful 'leaf pictures' using sponges. We also printed leaves when practicing our counting.

We've joined in singing animal songs and sneaked in our first 'Percy the Park Keeper' story, ready for next week!

Outside, we had fun playing with the water, the mud kitchen and experiencing different textures with farm animals on our tuff tray.

Enjoy a selection of pictures below and have a lovely weekend and enjoy the Summer Weather!!

First Week of School

Mrs MacMorrin and myself would like to welcome you to class one.

This week the children have all settled in very well. It has been lovely to see them all arrive happy and ready for school each morning!!
They have been investigating the indoor and outdoor areas this week.  They have been painting, drawing, reading stories, singing, counting and writing, building and may other activities.

The indoor area.

The outside area

We did some counting and matching numbers with Numicon in maths and made pictures with 2D shapes.

We have sent home a small piece of work. We would like them to decorate the white A3 piece of paper in stickers or magazine cutouts of things they like, or even photos of them doing anything they like.  This needs to be in by Monday 19th September.  Please make sure that their name is written on the back of the paper.
Here are some examples of last years books to help you.  If you need anything else please ask.
