Last week the children have been looking at their runner beans and studying how much they have grown.
Amelia noticed 'it's grown taller'
Edward said 'plants need water and sunlight to grow'
The children have kept a Bean Diary
VE Day:
On VE Day the children designed their own celebration stamp. In the morning we look at some pictures about World War 2 and listened to music, the children had to then think of something to write on their stamp. After lunch they then decorated the picture they chose to draw.
This week in maths the children will be learning about how to tell the time to the hour and then the half hour. It would be great if you could also do this at home so they start to understand better.
In Literacy we will be looking at letter writing and their features. The children will be writing a letter from Hopper to Flick to say sorry for how he behaved in 'A Bugs Life'.
We will be looking at bees as part of our class study on mini-beasts and also carefully looking at our caterpillars to see if they are hatching this week.
Homework:
As usual, there will be phonics worksheets for all children. Reception will have a new home learning task this week which will be to write their own story about a bug of their choice. This can be in words, or as a story map with adult scribe or if you are feeling really adventurous maybe video them acting their story out!
Year 1 we would like you to write and draw something you did to help celebrate VE Day over the weekend (this could be what we did in class if you did not do anything else).
Thank you class 1 for allowing us to share your classroom on Friday and all the lovely VE Day activities. We very much enjoyed it! I loved your poppy pictures and can't wait to see them on a big display. Bees! I love bees. Clever, hard working little things..........like you lot.
